Ah, Wales, our sister country and the land of stunning scenery. How I long to explore your valleys! Wales is so close to me here in England and yet so far the most I’ve seen of this stunning country is a couple of trips to Cardiff, once as a teenager to watch football and once just last month to watch Funeral for a Friend. Cardiff itself is la lovely city and I even got a chance to check out the nearby St. Fagans National Museum of History, but there is so much more Wales has to offer that I have been pinning to visit! So here are the top 5 places on my Welsh travel wish list:

Pembrokeshire
Since moving back to London I’ve really missed having beautiful places to hike on my doorstep and there are few better places in the UK to do this them Pembrokeshire. The scenery is known around the world as having some of the most beautiful coastal walking paths there is and I’m dying to spend a week taking it all in! If all that hiking is sounding too much for you then motorbike riding is a great way to go. With Pembrokeshires’ winding and stunning coastal roads, it’s a place often on the top of most bikers’ wish lists.
Penrhyn Quarry
A quarry might seem like a strange choice for a trip but this quarry in North Wales is one of the homes to Wales’s famous Zipworld, the high adrenaline adventure park. There are four locations across Wales but this one is the home to Velocity 2, the world’s fastest zip line. You travel at over 100 miles an hour taking in the stunning views of nearby Snowdonia. Also nearby is another Zipworld location, the Fforest Coaster, the UK’s only Alpine Coaster, something I’ve wanted to try for years. There are plenty of other adventurous options available in these stunning locations for my fellow adrenaline junkies.
Newport
Arguably Wales’s second city Newport has tons to offer from the gorgeous canal walks, to independent shops, to historic houses, there’s plenty to do here. My main draw however came after I did a charity skydive near Stonehenge, one of the instructors who had done skydives around the world told me that Newport was the best place to do it because the views over the bay are just that unbelievable! After this, I just knew I had to make the trip!

Snowdonia
I’ve been challenging myself more and more when it comes to hiking, I’ve never been fit and exercise has always been a struggle but grabbing my parent’s dog and heading out to see the amazing views is motivation enough, even with a bit of cursing and my slow speed. I’d love to eventually be fit enough to track climbing Mount Snowdon, it would be the dream! There is, of course, more to Snowdonia than just Snowdon of course, with mountains and trails aplenty is a perfect place for an adventure.
Brecon Beacons
Looking like something straight from a fantasy novel the Brecon Beacons are lush parklands that are the perfect place to wander, take in the views and tune out the world. Climb mountains, dive into waterfalls, explore caves, go horse riding, try canoeing, whatever outdoor activity you want to try here is the place to do it.
That is my current Welsh Travel wish list but I have a feeling it won’t be long before it starts to grow… Let me know your favourite places in Wales!
