6 of the prettiest towns in Piedmont Langhe you’ll love

My selection of the prettiest towns in Piedmont Langhe area for small town feel, delicious food and outstanding views.

Piedmont is a stunning region in the north west of Italy, famous for outstanding food and wine production: white truffles, barolo and nutella are from here, just to give a sample of how varied and significant the food offers is here!

It is also a beautiful region for town hopping as Piedmont in general and the area of Le Langhe in particular has many adorable towns, perfect for leisurely walks, casual sightseeing and, of course, meals with a view.

I was lucky enough to visit Le Langhe recently and explored many towns, one pretties than the other!

I am head over heels in love with this area and today I want to share my selection of the my prettiest towns in Piedmont’s Langhe to visit and stay. I’ll write guides for each asap, this is just the start!

The area is still largely off the main international tourism path which means it still feels local, authentic and is blissfully empty of the maddening crowds that now flood so many other parts of Italy.

This is one of the many reasons why I recommend this area to everyone, whether you may be looking for a couple’s destination, a girlfriends’ getaway idea or of course a family trip.

This is one of the best places in Piedmont with kids (and in Italy in general!)

Top tips to plan your visit TL; DR

To visit this area you need a car. We rented via Discover Cars in Turin and found the price good and the driving easy. You do not need 4×4 or any special car, we had a Fiat 500!

To stay, I highly recommend:

Villa La Meridiana, delightful country stay just above Alba, with lovely country setting and pool, but walking distance to the town. Perfect for all including families, we already cannot wait to come back!

Villaggio Narrante at Fontanafredda Estate, especially their Cascina Galarej for an intimate stay or their Hotel Case Conti di Mirafiore which is just beside their historic cellar, Michelin starred restaurant and truffle hunting fores

I stayed in both and found them both excellent, I cannot recommend them enough!
The best time to visit this area is late spring (May/ June), September-October and then November for truffle season.
I recommend a minimum of four days to enjoy the area, ideally more. The closes airport is Turin.
