Magical Cocktail Concoctions at The Cauldron, Dalston

If you are a fan of The Worst Witch, Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings have I got the cocktail experience for you! Entering through a small door in central Dulwich and heading down the creaky staircase you will find yourself in the favourite bar of witches, wizards and muggles alike.

Donning your cape and picking up your wand (what else!) you make your way over to your table where your magical experience will begin! Your first cocktail is a gin based floral delight aptly named The Transfiguration Toniq. Creating this involves mixing bottles of some crazy seeming ingredients for a truly magical effect (don’t worry I won’t spoil the surprise as it’s better experienced for yourself!) The creation is half the fun but this light, colourful drink was a great way to start our experience and you will soon realise that your wand is more then just a prop!

Next up it’s time to head over to the magical tree to experience the wonders it provides. Simply tell it if you prefer a vodka cocktail or a specialised ale (created especially for this experience) and if you truly believe the tree will of course provide! Although this was the drink that I had the least direct involvement in creating this was actually my favourite (maybe this says something about my barista skills!). It was just the right amount of sweet, fruity and light.

The last drink of the evening is a true show stopper, involving a cauldron, pestle and mortar and a seriously smoking effect! This rum based cocktail is again easy enough for anyone to drink without any particularly strong flavours and is a great way to end the night.

Of course it’s not all about the alcohol, this bar is decorated so perfectly it’s easy to think you’ve stumbled across it in an enchanted forest, and the staff really help sell the show. Don’t forget to walk through the hidden wardrobe to see what you might find…

Prepare yourself for some serious surprises and grab your self a space!
